Itahari  is a Sub-Metropolitan and largest city in  sunsari district in the Koshi zone of south-eastern Nepal. It is located at the main transportation junction of eastern Nepal. It is the center of the west-east Mahendra highway and south-north Koshi Highway and thus is a town of emerging importance.According to the census 2011, it had 33794 households and 140517 total population out of which 66566 are male and 73951 are female.Itahari sub-metropolitan city consists of 26 wards.
